Music for Mental Health: A Children and Young People’s Crisis Appeal
Chiltern Music Therapy is proud to announce the launch of our new fundraising appeal, Music for Mental Health: A Children and Young People’s Crisis Appeal.
Young people's mental health is in crisis, affecting millions of young people and their families every day. The need for mental health care is higher than ever before, with children and adolescents often waiting over a year for support. We believe that every young person deserves access to the mental health care they need, regardless of their circumstances.
As a not-for-profit organisation that utilises music therapy and community music to improve mental health and wellbeing in young people, we have seen first-hand how our services can transform young people’s lives. We provide invaluable support and help them to express themselves when they don’t have the words. But we can't do it alone.
That's why we are launching the Music for Mental Health appeal.
Our goal is to raise £50,000 to provide music therapy to those who need it most. Your support will help more children to access music therapy, including children with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as early years, primary and secondary schools. We will also be able to continue our valuable work in paediatric units in hospitals, and expand our community mental health services. With your donation, no matter how small, you can help us make a significant difference in the lives of young people struggling with mental health issues.
According to a recent report by mental health charity, Mind, 2 in 5 young people say that they do not have the words to express how they are feeling when they are struggling with their mental health. This is where music therapy can be transformational, as it provides an outlet for young people to express themselves in a non-verbal way. Music therapy is a powerful tool for improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people. Research has shown that it can help to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, increase self-esteem and confidence, and promote social engagement and interaction.
Every child and young person has the right to access support when they need it most. Join us in our mission to support children and young people's mental health by donating to the Music for Mental Health appeal today. Every penny you give will go towards providing music therapy services to young people between the ages of 0 and 25. Together, we can make a positive change to the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
