At Chiltern Music Therapy we do things differently.  We are an award-winning not-for-profit organisation, providing music therapy across health, education, social care and community settings in England.  Our services cover the complete lifecycle, supporting premature infants through to people receiving end of life care.  We believe that music therapy can be the transformative thread in everyday life. 

Chiltern is employee-owned and operates under a self-managing model.  We recognise the different strengths within our team and provide an environment where people can take charge of the work they do, using professional judgement and life experience, alongside peer support, in order to make informed and integrated decisions.

Salary and Hours

  • £190 per day
  • 1 day per week maternity cover (9 months) with the potential to expand depending on location

Role and conditions

  • Delivering group and individual music therapy sessions as part of full service in an SEN primary school.
  • Weekly clinical note-writing
  • Carrying out individual assessments with reports and recommendations
  • Annual review/discharge reports
  • Managing and prioritising referrals
  • Use of appropriate outcome measures to support goal-setting and service evaluation
  • Managing onsite relationships with relevant staff members
  • Delivering relevant presentations or training sessions to staff when required
  • Working flexibly with service to meet their needs

What Chiltern Music Therapy is looking for

Essential requirements:

  • HCPC registration and a DBS check
  • Confident and self-motivated individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Willing to travel to different locations throughout the week (some services will require equipment to be transported – a full driving licence with access to a vehicle or use of public transport is required)

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in schools or with children and young people in the community
  • Additional training in Neurologic Music Therapy for other potential work.
